Without real darkness: Göteborg
(the First week)

The hichiking from Malmö to Göteborg  was quite easy. We started at around 11 in the morning and we were in Göteborg at 6-7. We needed three rides, but we did it in one day! :)

Göteborg is the second largest city in Sweden after Stockholm. And it feels big too:P
The weather was rainy and cold almost all week long. We stayed in the suburbes of Göteborg. The nature is really nice. If the weather is hot you can take a long walk in the hills. You can find huge rocks everywhere in the city.

Sunny day :)
Later on we looked around in the center of the city. There is a huge shopping area, which is really boring for me but I like the old part of Göteborg and the parks. In the Haga district you can find nice wooden architecture. This is the oldest part of the city it's full of caffé's and bars. In a sunny day it's nice to get lost in the city and take a long walk. There is a huge park, called Slottsskogen, where there is a free zoo with seals, horses and dears in it :)

City center
We visited the biggest science center in Skandinavia(Universeum). :)Our friend had tickets so we could get in for free(the entrance for adult is 195 SEK=23 euro, so it's expensive, but of course this is Sweden).
We really enjoyed ourselves. We saw moving dinosaurs, the mokeys jumped around us, and birds flew above our head. Plus there is a huge aquarium with a lot of fish and sharks.
Face to face :D

Worth to visit in Göteborg:
  • Haga district
  • City center
  • Woods in the suburbes
  • Slottsskogen park
  • Universeum (if you have money)
  • If you have time maybe you should visit one of the smallest cities(or villages?) close to Göteborg. They are beautiful mixture of rockie hills, water and islands. We didn't have the opportunity to do it but a lot of people recommended it.
Prices:Defenetly more expensive than any other non skandinavian country in Europe(exept Switzerland) but if you don't want to eat in expensive restaurants and spend your money in the shopping malls still you can find cheap supermarkets and you won't fell the differance that much. Alchohol and cigarettes cost a lot more and stronger alcoholes are sold just in specialized shops.

Public transport:
They don't sell tickets on the bus. They have a really weird(for me) card system and you can buy a ticket with your phone by SMS but I have know idea how it exactly works... Anyway the conrollers are recognizable, they wear uniforms... so you know what you have to do if you see them...:P

Göteborg is a nice Skandinavian city but 3-4 days is enough to look around in my opinion. :)

Busking in Göteborg

On Haga
It was a really pleasent experiance playing in this city. Sometimes we made more sometimes we made less, but we always got positive reactions. :) In the first week... Than when we came back from Norway it was really hard to make enough money for the ferry to Germany. We had to stay two weeks to get out of Sweden. Maybe because we couldn't play with joy anymore, and we are bored with the songs, we're playing, so it's time to change the list very soon.

Laws:
We heard that in Haga, you can play without any permit, but in other parts of the city you have to get one, but actually nobody does anything so everybody is playing everywhere. :)

Our experiance:
first we played in the shopping street but after 3 songs a guard came out and told us to leave. I don't like playing in the big shopping streets. They are too crowded and noisey and people are always in a hurry and most of them would not stop to listen unless you are loud or have an unusual act. We are none of these things :P

So we went to play in Haga. It's the old part of Göteborg, usually full of turists. The first week was wonderful. We made in 1-1/2 hours around 200-400 crowns(about 20-50 euros). But in the last two weeks as we played more and more we got less and less money. In the end we didn't really make anything, but we weren't the only ones with empty pocket. People just stopped paying the street musicians on the Haga Nygata street.

We decided to go to the Shopping mall(Nordstan) and play there. The average money was aroud 100-150 crowns in a bit more than half an hour, so at least there we could make enough for the tickets.

Best places to play:
-Haga
-Shopping streets in the center
-Shoping mall Nordstan

First day in Sweden: Malmö

We stopped for one night in Malmö, hoping to make enough money for the bus tickets to Göteborg. Fortunately Tobi drove us to Malmö and we didn't have to hich-hike. The train ticket from Copenhagen would have been extremely expensive for this short distance(more than a 100 crowns!)
Malmö

It's a very small city(actually the 3rd largest city in Sweden by population:P), and we didn't have much time to look around because we stayed just one day and we wanted to make enough money for the bust ticket to Göteborg(125crowns/person).

Busking in Malmö

In the center of the city there were not too many people. But we gave it a try and played in the main walking street (I can't recall the name of it but I think you will find it:P ) a bit more than half an hour. A lot of people actually payed and we were happy about it, but than we realized that most of them are payd just one lousy crown:p(1 swedish krown= a bit more than 10 cent), so totally we made 50 crowns...
You can buy a piece of bread for 50 crowns :P

So the next day we had to hichike. Alex our host took us to the highway entrance in the next morning, and that was the point when we both realized that we were in Sweden :))
